Mast cells are long-lived, tissue-resident immune cells whose repeated pathological activation and degranulation are central drivers of allergic and inflammatory diseases. Depending on the triggering allergen and affected organs, mast cell-mediated disorders manifest across a broad clinical spectrum, ranging from mild conditions such as conjunctivitis and rhinitis to asthma, urticaria, atopic dermatitis, angioedema, food allergies and, in severe cases, life-threatening anaphylaxis.3
